What is IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen?
IPS stands for In-Plane Switching. LCD is Liquid Crystal Display, we often see this when we purchase TV or monitor. Like what my uncle or aunty used to always say, "I have LCD monitor"
IPS LCD is an upgrade from TFT LCD (What the heck is this again?)
TFT LCD technology is an older technology used on television, mobile phones, monitor, some handheld device etc.
LCD is using polarized light, then later will be run through a filter (vertical and horizontal). This vertical and horizontal filter will act as control, to determine which pixel to be turn on or off, and what's the brightness.
Polarized light, going through vertical and horizontal filter. This process is called Polarization.
From the image, you can try to imagine, the light come from the back, then the filter, decide which pixel to be turn on and off and the brightness too. If the pixel is smaller, the image will be clearer.
The quick on and off and brightness control must be the reason it is called In-Plane Switching.
All Apple IPhones are using IPS LCD
